Day 2 Highlights of the Oriental Cup 2026

New Delhi, July 10: The relentless downpour and waterlogged conditions at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium showcased the unwavering spirit of the Oriental Cup 2026, as young footballers displayed remarkable energy and determination on the tournament's second day.


The matches were fiercely contested, with Tagore International School, Step by Step School, Noida, The Air Force School, Subroto Park, and DAV Public School, Faridabad achieving significant victories in the Boys' category. Meanwhile, Sapphire International School, Noida triumphed in the Girls' category, as reported by a press release.


Tagore International School kicked off the day with a 2-0 win against Sapphire International School, Noida in the Boys' category. Ayushman Sharma netted a goal in each half, scoring first in the fourth minute and then again in the 29th minute, ensuring Tagore's progression to the next round.


In the corresponding Girls' match, Sapphire International School secured a 2-0 victory over Tagore International School. Dhanvi Chawla opened the scoring in the sixth minute, followed by Aadya Chawla, who doubled the lead in the 12th minute, with both first-half goals proving decisive.


St. Francis De Sales Senior Secondary School advanced in both Boys' and Girls' categories after receiving walkovers against St. Mary's School, Safdarjung Enclave.


Step by Step School, Noida showcased dominance with a 4-0 victory over The Indian School in the Boys' category. Chitman Singh scored the first goal in the ninth minute and completed his brace in the 16th minute. Yuvaan Krishna added the third goal in the 20th minute, while Vansh Gulati finished the scoring in the 27th minute.


Step by Step School also progressed in the Girls' category after receiving a walkover against The Indian School.


The Air Force School, Subroto Park achieved a comfortable 3-0 win against Father Agnel School, Noida, with Arnab Kashyap scoring all three goals. He opened the scoring in the fifth minute, added another in the 15th minute, and completed his hat-trick in the 25th minute.


In the final match of the day, DAV Public School, Faridabad defeated Maharaja Aggarsain Adarsh Public School 5-0. Hitesh Solanki scored the first goal in the third minute, followed by Pawan Gupta, who doubled the lead in the second half. Tarun Gaur then completed the emphatic victory with a hat-trick.


The Oriental Cup 2026 will continue on Thursday, with more teams set to compete as the race for advancement intensifies. This fourth edition, running from July 7 to July 16 at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, is expected to feature over 1,500 student-athletes from more than 45 teams across Delhi-NCR. The tournament boasts a significantly increased prize pool and a Rs 2.5 lakh scholarship program for ten deserving student-athletes.
