India's Remarkable Win Against Afghanistan

Following a historic triumph against Afghanistan in the second semifinal of the ICC Men's U19 World Cup, Indian captain Ayush Mhatre expressed confidence, stating that the team will give their "110 percent" in the upcoming final against England.

India achieved a record chase by successfully pursuing a target of 311 runs, marking the highest successful run chase in U19 World Cup history. This victory surpassed their previous record of 304 runs against England in 2002. With this win, India has reached the U19 World Cup final for the tenth time, the most by any team, while Australia follows with six finals in the tournament's 16 editions.

Captain Mhatre Praises Team Performance

In the post-match presentation, Ayush Mhatre commended opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his explosive start, which alleviated pressure on the other batsmen during the crucial chase. He noted, "Afghanistan began strongly with the bat, and while our bowlers performed well in the middle overs, they accelerated in the final ten. Our strategy was straightforward: play our natural game. The pitch was excellent, so we believed that if we played naturally, we could manage the total. Sooryavanshi played a pivotal role, scoring 90 runs in the first ten overs, which eased the pressure significantly for the rest of us to build the innings," Mhatre stated, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

He further added, "George is an exceptional batsman. Although he hadn't scored many runs leading up to this match, he consistently performed well in practice. We were confident that if he played his natural game, he would excel. He anchored the innings beautifully. The conditions at Harare Sports Club are fantastic. The team is in good rhythm, and we plan to keep things simple and focused on the field. To our fans, your support lifts our spirits. We will give our all to win the final. Regarding recovery time before the final, it is sufficient. We are accustomed to these conditions and often play back-to-back matches in India. We will recover well and be ready for the challenge ahead."
