Under the new captaincy of Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant, the team introduces fresh talents like Arshdeep Singh and Sai Sudharsan. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah is on the verge of a remarkable milestone, needing just one wicket to equal Wasim Akram's record for most Test wickets by an Asian bowler in SENA nations. India's Test Series in England: New Leadership and Milestone for Bumrah

India's Upcoming Test Series Against England

India is set to commence its World Test Championship journey for 2025–27 with a challenging series in England, beginning on June 20, 2025. This five-match series marks a new era for the team under the leadership of Shubman Gill, who has taken on the role of captain, while Rishabh Pant will serve as vice-captain.

The squad for the England series introduces two fresh talents: left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh and batsman Sai Sudharsan. Both players have showcased their skills in the domestic circuit and during the recently concluded IPL 2025.

As the senior team prepares for the opening Test, the India A team is engaged in the final match of a two-match unofficial Test series against the England Lions.

With the new leadership taking center stage, attention will also be on Jasprit Bumrah, who is on the verge of reaching a significant milestone during the tour. The premier fast bowler needs just one more wicket to match Wasim Akram's record for the most Test wickets by an Asian bowler in SENA countries.

Akram achieved 146 wickets in 32 Tests across SENA nations, while Bumrah currently stands at 145 wickets from 31 Tests. Notably, he requires only five more wickets to become the first Asian bowler to reach 150 Test wickets.

Prioritizing Jasprit Bumrah's Workload Management

It is important to highlight that Bumrah suffered a back injury during India's last Test in Australia earlier this year. Despite being the standout performer in that series, which India lost 2-1, his workload is being monitored closely.

Additionally, head coach Gautam Gambhir has indicated that Bumrah is anticipated to participate in only three out of the five Tests in England.
