India's Stellar Comeback: KL Rahul's Century Powers Team to 351 Against West Indies
India's Impressive Recovery
In a thrilling encounter at the PCA International Cricket Stadium, India bounced back from a shaky start to set a challenging total of 351/7 in the third and final ODI against the West Indies on Saturday.
KL Rahul's Outstanding Performance
KL Rahul was the star of the match, scoring an impressive 129 runs, which helped India surpass the 350-run mark. His innings featured 10 boundaries and two sixes, showcasing his ability to accelerate the scoring as India finished at 351/7. Notably, Rahul's century came off just 80 deliveries, marking it as the second-fastest of his nine ODI centuries, following his record 62-ball century against the Netherlands during the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Key Contributions from Rohit and Gaikwad
Choosing to bat first, India faced early setbacks with Shubman Gill (1 off 6) and Virat Kohli (0 off 1) dismissed quickly. However, Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad played pivotal roles in stabilizing the innings.
Rohit continued his excellent form, scoring 92 runs from 85 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes, narrowly missing out on a century. At 39, he became the fourth opener in ODI history to reach 10,000 runs.
Gaikwad capitalized on his chances, contributing a solid 57 runs off 69 balls.
Naman Dhir added a quick 30 runs off 21 balls, while Anshul Kamboj provided a late boost with 17 runs off nine balls.
West Indies Bowling Highlights
For the West Indies, Jayden Seales was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 62 runs, including the crucial dismissals of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. Keemo Paul supported with two wickets, while Gudakesh Motie added one to his tally.
With India already having clinched the ODI series, the West Indies will aim to chase down this formidable target as they prepare for the upcoming T20I series.
