According to a report from a leading news outlet, Surya Kumar Yadav is set to captain Team India for the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer may be excluded from the T20 team.

Currently, Surya, the captain of India's T20 team, is at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, preparing to return to the game following surgery for a sports hernia. His presence at the selection meeting in Mumbai indicates that he will lead the team in the Asia Cup. After the selection committee meeting, Ajit Agarkar is expected to hold a press conference in Mumbai on August 19.

With Surya's position seemingly secure, it is anticipated that Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal may be dropped from the T20 team for the Asia Cup. In terms of the team's top order, the batting lineup is likely to include Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Surya Kumar Yadav, making it challenging for Jaiswal and Gill to find a spot.

Additionally, a significant reason for Jaiswal and Iyer's potential exclusion from the Asia Cup is their participation in the Duleep Trophy. This raises concerns for selectors regarding how switching formats might impact the players' performance.
