India's Bangladesh Tour in August Faces Rescheduling Due to Government Approval Delays
Potential Rescheduling of India's Bangladesh Tour
The upcoming tour of Bangladesh by Team India, scheduled for August, is on the verge of being rescheduled. The primary reason for this delay is that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to receive approval from the Indian government for the tour.
On July 2, an official from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hinted at the possibility of rescheduling during a conversation with a news agency. This series was set to feature three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and an equal number of T20 matches, commencing on August 17 in Dhaka. However, Iftikhar Rahman, the chairman of the BCB media committee, informed the agency that the BCCI has indicated a potential delay in the tour.
As of now, the BCCI has not made any official comments regarding the tour. Rahman mentioned that since this tour is part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP), cancellation is not an option, but it can be rescheduled by mutual agreement at a later date.
If the Indian team's tour to Bangladesh is postponed, it could delay the international return of star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both players have retired from T20 and Test formats, so if the ODI series is rescheduled, their return to the field may also be pushed back.
