Indian Women's Team Triumphs in T20 Series
The Indian women's cricket team achieved a remarkable victory against the Sri Lankan women's team, winning by eight wickets and taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the five-match T20 series. This success was largely attributed to the aggressive bowling performance by the team, particularly by the returning Renuka Singh Thakur, who delivered an impressive 4/21.
After the match, Renuka expressed her satisfaction with her performance and referred to Kerala as her lucky ground. Making a comeback after a long hiatus, she excelled with the new ball, claiming four wickets and troubling the Sri Lankan top order.

During the post-match press conference, Renuka shared her joy about her performance and highlighted Kerala as her fortunate venue, recalling her success in Under-19 cricket where she often took four wickets. She praised the Indian women's bowling unit, commending the effective combination of fast bowlers and spinners, and emphasized the team's commitment to maintaining high standards to win matches and elevate women's cricket.
Renuka stated, "I performed well. I have been playing T20 cricket for a long time, so I am happy. Kerala is my lucky ground. I have played Under-19 cricket here and have taken four wickets every time. I was very excited to come to Kerala. This is my lucky ground." She further noted that the bowling department is performing well and that they are striving to find the best combination for the World Cup, aiming to keep their standards high to win as many matches as possible and take women's cricket to the next level.
Outstanding Contributions from Teammates
Alongside Renuka, Deepti Sharma also showcased her bowling prowess in the match against Sri Lanka, taking 3/18 and tying with Australia's Megan Schutt for the most wickets in women's T20 internationals, both having 151 wickets. Sri Lanka struggled early in their innings, losing three wickets for just 32 runs. Despite a resilient 19* from Kaushini Nuthyangana, Sri Lanka could only muster 112/7 in their 20 overs.
For India, Shafali Verma played a blistering innings, scoring 79 runs off 42 balls, with solid support from captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who contributed 21*. India secured the victory with 6.4 overs to spare.
