Indian Women's Shooting Team Triumphs

The Indian women's shooting squad, comprising Neeru, Aashima Ahlawat, and Manisha Keer, achieved a silver medal in the women's trap team event during the Asian Games 2026 held in Japan on Tuesday.

With a total score of 328 points, the Indian team outperformed Kuwait, who took home the bronze with 325 points. China claimed the gold medal with a score of 346 points.

Neeru delivered an outstanding individual performance, scoring 118 out of 125, which significantly contributed to the team's success. Aashima and Manisha added scores of 106 and 104, respectively, out of a possible 125. Neeru also tied for the top position in the individual qualifying round with Qatar's Ray Bassil and is set to compete in the individual final later today.

This silver medal marks a significant achievement for India in the women's trap team event at the ongoing Asian Games in Japan.

Archery Highlights

In archery, Indian archers Dhiraj Bommadevara and Neeraj Chauhan progressed to the men's recurve individual quarterfinals after winning their matches in the Round of 16.

Dhiraj triumphed over Girvin Garcia from the Philippines with a score of 6-0 in the Round of 32, while Neeraj defeated Indonesia's Riau Ega Agata Salsabilla 6-4.

In the Round of 16, Dhiraj continued his winning streak against Cheng Hsiang-Hui from Chinese Taipei, winning 6-2, and Neeraj overcame South Korea's Kim Je-deok with a score of 6-4.

Other Sports Results

In cycling, the team of Rojit Singh, David Beckham, and Ronaldo Singh placed seventh out of eight in the men's team sprint qualification. Meanwhile, the women's team, consisting of Celestina, Sarita Kumari, and Keerthi Rangaswamy Chikka, finished last in their event.

In kurash, Vipin Kumar faced a defeat against South Korea's Hoon Hyeon-su, losing 0-3 in the men's 66kg Round of 16. Additionally, surfer Kishore Kumar Anbarasu was eliminated in the men's shortboard quarterfinal by the Philippines' Toby Espejon, with a score of 5.37-8.53.

Squash Success

India achieved a clean sweep against Iran in their final women's squash pool match, winning 3-0.

Tanvi Khanna received a walkover after Narges Soltani retired in the first game. Anahat Singh won decisively against Fereshteh Eghtedari with a score of 3-0 (11-5, 11-4, 11-7), and Joshna Chinappa also secured a 3-0 victory over Najmeh Boushehrizadeh (11-1, 11-3, 11-9).

With this victory, India won all three group matches and advanced to the quarterfinals.
