Indian Women's Hockey Team Secures Final Berth

On Wednesday, the Indian women's hockey team triumphed over South Korea with a score of 2-0 in the semifinals of the Asian Games 2026, earning a spot in the gold medal match.

The first half ended without any goals, but India took the lead in the 43rd minute when Ishika successfully converted a penalty corner.

Just four minutes later, in the 47th minute, India extended its lead. Salima Tete delivered a cross into the circle, which deflected off a South Korean defender's stick and found the net. India maintained its two-goal lead for the rest of the match, securing a 2-0 victory. They will now face China in the final for the gold medal.

Disappointment in Men's Doubles Tennis

In contrast, the Indian men's doubles team faced disappointment at the Asian Games, finishing without a medal for the first time since 1998, as both pairs were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Anirudh Chandrasekar and N Balaji fought hard but ultimately lost to China's Jiang Fumin and Zhang Tianhui in a tightly contested three-set match, with scores of 7-6(4), 6-7(7), and 8-10.

Similarly, Yuki Bhambri and Dhakshineswar Suresh were defeated by Chinese Taipei's Ho Chen-jui and Hsu Yu-hsiou, with a score of 6-7(5), 3-6. These quarterfinal exits dashed India's hopes of winning a men's doubles medal, marking a long wait since 1998.
