Indian Women's Trap Team Secures Silver Medal

Nagoya: The Indian women's shooting team achieved a remarkable feat by winning a silver medal in the trap team event at the Asian Games held in Nagoya on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the men's team faced disappointment, finishing in sixth place.

The women's trio, consisting of Neeru Dhanda (118), Aashima Ahlawat (106), and Manisha Keer (104), collectively scored 328, securing the second position behind China's gold medal-winning team, which scored 346.

The Chinese squad included Liu Shanshan, Sun Yunong, and Zhu Jingyu.

Kuwait's team, featuring Alhawal Shahad, Abdulmalik Hajar, and Alhawal Sarah, took home the bronze with a total of 325.

Neeru Dhanda also made her mark by qualifying for the final round, tying for the top score of 118 with Qatar's Ray Bassil, setting a new Games qualification record.

In the individual rankings, Ahlawat and Keer placed 16th and 23rd, respectively.

On the men's side, the Indian trap team finished a disappointing sixth out of ten teams. However, Shapath Bharadwaj managed to qualify for the final, finishing eighth after a shoot-off against Mohammed Al-Rumaihi.

Bharadwaj, a 24-year-old from Meerut, secured the last qualification spot. The men's team, comprising Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai, and Ahvar Rizvi, achieved a combined score of 339.

Kuwait won the gold medal with a score of 355, while Qatar and Kazakhstan secured silver and bronze with scores of 349 and 348, respectively.

It's worth noting that the Indian men's trap team had previously won gold at the last edition of the Games held in China.
