Vaishnavi Adkar's Impressive Performance
Indian tennis players Vaishnavi Adkar and Ankita Raina showcased their skills by advancing to the quarterfinals in the women's singles at the ITF W35 Kalaburagi held at the Chandrashekhar Patil Stadium on Thursday.
Third-seeded Vaishnavi Adkar delivered a commanding performance against Anna Siedysheva, winning decisively with scores of 6-2, 6-0. The match started with both players holding serve comfortably until Adkar intensified her game in the sixth game, creating three break points. After a tough deuce, she broke Siedysheva's serve and followed it up with a solid service hold, taking a 5-2 lead.
Adkar clinched the first set 6-2 with a powerful overhead smash after another competitive game. She carried her momentum into the second set, breaking early as Siedysheva began to falter, allowing Adkar to maintain pressure on her serve. Despite some strong shots from Siedysheva, Adkar remained focused and finished the second set without dropping a game.
Ankita Raina's Smooth Progression
Eighth seed Ankita Raina also progressed easily, defeating Milana Maslenkova with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Raina made an early impact by breaking Maslenkova's serve in the second game and maintained that lead throughout the set.
In the eighth game, Raina's consistent pressure forced a long shot from Maslenkova, allowing Raina to take the first set 6-2. She elevated her game in the second set, earning three break points in the fourth game with a series of impressive winners. An error from Maslenkova gave Raina a 3-1 advantage. A lengthy fifth game ensued, but Raina's powerful forehand led to crucial mistakes from her opponent, extending her lead to 4-1. She ultimately sealed the match with a precise backhand winner.
