Indian Sports Stars Rally Behind Military Action Against Terrorism

Support from Indian Athletes for Military Operations
Prominent Indian sports figures, including Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, former cricketer Virender Sehwag, and Shikhar Dhawan, have voiced their backing for India's military efforts aimed at dismantling terrorist networks in Pakistan.
Concerns about the future of the Indian Premier League are rising as tensions escalate between the two nuclear nations. The athletes have shown unwavering confidence in the capabilities of the Indian armed forces.
Neeraj Chopra, a double Olympic medalist, expressed his pride in the military's commitment to combating terrorism, urging citizens to adhere to safety guidelines during this critical period via a post on ‘X’.
Due to security concerns stemming from air raid warnings in the vicinity, the match scheduled between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was canceled, prompting the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to assess the situation.
Virender Sehwag attributed the current tensions to Pakistan's actions, stating, “Pakistan chose war when they could have opted for peace. Their escalation to protect terrorist assets speaks volumes about their intentions. Our forces will respond in a way that Pakistan will never forget,” in a post on ‘X’.
Shikhar Dhawan also honored the Indian forces, tweeting, “Salute to our brave soldiers for safeguarding our borders and thwarting the drone attack in Jammu. India remains resilient. Jai Hind.”
In the early hours of Wednesday, the Indian military executed precise missile strikes targeting nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.
These strikes were a direct response to the tragic attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily tourists. In retaliation, Pakistan targeted 15 Indian cities, prompting further military action from India.
