Exciting Matches for Indian Players

On Thursday, May 28, Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had a successful day at the Singapore Open 2026, securing their place in the quarter-finals by defeating the Taiwanese duo of LEE J-H and Yang P-H. The world-ranked fourth pair faced a tough challenge, losing the second set but ultimately triumphed in a nail-biting final set, winning 21-18 after taking the first set 21-15 and dropping the second 11-21. They are set to compete against Malaysia's KANG Khai Xing and Aaron TAI in the quarter-finals on Friday, May 29.

Lakshya Sen's Easy Progress

Lakshya Sen advanced to the quarter-finals effortlessly, as his second-round match against Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn ended prematurely. The Thai player retired after just two points due to injury, allowing Sen to move forward without any struggle. The 24-year-old will now face Japan's Koki Watanabe in the next round.

HS Prannoy's Disappointment

In contrast, HS Prannoy faced disappointment after his recent upset victory over Jonathan Christie. The 33-year-old lost a closely contested Round of 16 match to local favorite Loh Kean Yew, with scores of 18-21, 21-16, and 15-21. This result means that Sen is now the sole Indian representative in the men's singles quarter-finals, following the early exits of Ayush Shetty and Kidambi Srikanth.

PV Sindhu's Strong Performance

On the women's side, PV Sindhu stands out as the only Indian in the quarter-finals. She secured her spot by defeating Riko Gunji in the Round of 16, winning decisively with scores of 21-12 and 21-9.
