Indian Open 2026 Dates and Venue Revealed
The Indian Open has officially announced that its 2026 edition will occur from March 18 to March 22 in Mumbai. After a successful event last year at the renowned Bombay Gymkhana, the tournament will now be hosted at the historic CCI Brabourne Stadium for its upcoming edition.
Star-Studded Line-up and Record Prize Money
Sanctioned by the Professional Squash Association (PSA), this tournament builds on the success of its 2025 edition, which was recognized as one of the Top 10 Iconic PSA Events of the year. This recognition marks a significant achievement for professional squash in India and highlights the event's increasing prominence on the global stage.
The 2026 edition will feature defending women's champion Anahat Singh, along with top Indian players such as Ramit Tandon, Abhay Singh, Veer Chotrani, Velavan Senthilkumar, and Joshna Chinappa. International competitors like Yahya Elnawasany, Hana Moataz, and Mazen Hesham will also participate, promising a week filled with intense competition. Notably, this year's tournament will offer a prize purse of $44,500 for both men's and women's events, a first for any tournament in India. As a PSA Copper event, it further enhances the tournament's status within the professional squash circuit.
A Pivotal Moment for Indian Squash
Divyanshu Singh, CEO of JSW Sports, expressed enthusiasm about last year's edition, which showcased top Indian and international players and demonstrated the rising standards of squash in India. With squash set to debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, this is a crucial time for the sport in India. Events like the JSW Indian Open provide players with the chance to compete at the highest level on home turf as they prepare for the global stage. Tickets are now available, and the organizers are eager to welcome fans to the CCI Brabourne Stadium, building on last season's success at Bombay Gymkhana.
Manisha Malhotra, President of the Inspire Institute of Sport, noted that last year's tournament highlighted the importance of Indian players facing top international talent at home. This year, she anticipates packed stands, thrilling matches, and a celebration of the ongoing rise of squash in India as more players gain international recognition.
Cyrus Poncha, Secretary General of the Squash Rackets Federation of India, added that the JSW Indian Open has quickly become a vital event on the PSA calendar, providing Indian players with exposure to world-class competition while enhancing the profile of squash in the country. For 2026, there is excitement about the tournament's growing international significance and the opportunity for fans to witness high-level matches live, supporting the sport's long-term development in India.
Enhancing the Tournament Experience
The Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals will be held on a full glass court, creating an arena-style squash theatre designed for high-energy, close-quarters viewing. With a larger stage, equal prize money, and a lineup of elite Indian and international talent, the 2026 Indian Open is set to further solidify India's position on the global squash calendar.
