Nagoya, Japan - On September 18, the Indian men's soft tennis team faced a disappointing end to their 2026 Asian Games journey, suffering a 0-2 defeat against Indonesia in the quarterfinals.

The opening doubles match saw Jay Meena and Yogesh Choudhary fall short, losing 2-5 to the Indonesian duo of Tio Hutauruk and Fernando Sanger.

In the subsequent singles match, Aryan Thakur put up a valiant effort but was narrowly defeated 3-4 by Bagus Pradewa, sealing the quarterfinal tie for Indonesia at 2-0.

Despite this setback, India's soft tennis campaign is not over, as Jay Meena and Aryan Thakur are scheduled to compete in the men's singles on September 22, with Meena also participating in the mixed doubles event on September 21.

Earlier in the tournament, India secured their spot in the quarterfinals of the men's team soft tennis competition by finishing second in Group C, achieving two victories out of three matches.

The Indian team, consisting of Jay Meena, Yogesh Choudhary, Aryan Thakur, Aniket Patel, and Om Yadav, kicked off their campaign with a strong 3-0 win against Laos, followed by a 0-3 loss to Chinese Taipei. They rebounded impressively in their final group match, defeating Mongolia 3-0 to advance to the knockout stage, finishing with four points in total.
