Indian Kabaddi Team Enters Semifinals

The Indian men's kabaddi team showcased their prowess at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, by defeating Chinese Taipei and securing a spot in the semifinals on Thursday. As defending champions, they concluded the group stage with a perfect record of four victories, triumphing over Chinese Taipei with a score of 37-21.

In the initial half, India established a strong lead of 17-7, finishing the first half at 23-11, with Arjun Deshwal being a key player. The second half saw India maintain their dominance, ultimately winning 37-21 and moving one step closer to defending their title.

On Wednesday, India had already demonstrated their strength with a commanding 48-25 win against Bangladesh. Their campaign began with a significant 49-24 victory over Japan, followed by a 63-31 win against South Korea. Historically, India has excelled in men's kabaddi at the Asian Games, securing gold in eight out of nine editions since the sport's introduction in 1990, with a bronze medal in 2018. In the previous edition in 2022, India clinched gold by defeating Iran 33-29.

Roshibina Devi Secures Silver in Wushu

In another highlight, Roshibina Devi earned her second consecutive silver medal in wushu, losing to China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the women's sanda 60 kg final on Thursday. Additionally, the duo of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan captured a bronze medal in the men's double sculls final.

Roshibina, who also won silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, faced a tough match, losing both rounds 0-5, with her opponent sealing the victory 2-0, according to ESPN. Her impressive journey in Japan included a victory over the 2023 world champion Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from Vietnam. In the semifinals, she defeated Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 to secure her place in the final. This marks India's 14th medal at the ongoing games, which includes one gold, six silvers, and seven bronzes.
