Union Ministers Celebrate Hockey Triumphs

On Monday, Union Ministers expressed their congratulations to the Indian junior men's and women's hockey teams following their impressive title wins at the AHF Junior Asia Cup 2026. The players were praised for their outstanding performances and significant contributions to India's sporting achievements.

Historic Hat-Trick for Junior Women's Team

The Indian Junior Women’s Team clinched the championship title at the AHF Junior Asia Cup 2026, narrowly defeating the host nation, China, with a score of 1-0 in a tense final held on Sunday. A goal from Sanika Chandrakant Mane in the 17th minute secured the victory, allowing the defending champions to achieve a remarkable hat-trick of titles in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup. This win also guarantees India a spot in the FIH Junior Women’s World Cup.

To honor this achievement, Hockey India announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh for each player and Rs 1.5 lakh for every member of the support staff.

Junior Men's Team Claims Championship Title

The Indian Junior Men’s Hockey Team emerged victorious in the 2026 Men’s Junior Asia Cup, defeating Korea 4-1 in the Gold Medal match held in Moqi, China, on Sunday. This victory marks India's successful title defense and their sixth continental championship overall.

Ministers Praise Exceptional Performances

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya commended both teams for their remarkable achievements, stating that these victories reflect India's rising prominence in Asian hockey. He expressed his congratulations on social media, emphasizing the teams' total dominance.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also congratulated the junior women’s team for their third consecutive title, highlighting the pride the nation feels for their determination and discipline. He extended his best wishes for their upcoming participation in the FIH Junior World Cup.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju celebrated the women's team's success, congratulating the players, coaches, and support staff for their historic accomplishment. He expressed hope that this success would inspire future athletes and elevate Indian hockey.
