Satwik and Chirag's Smooth Progression
New Delhi: The Indian men's doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has successfully moved into the pre-quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships, thanks to a walkover in their initial match on Wednesday.
Ranked fifth, the duo, who have previously secured two bronze medals at this prestigious event, enjoyed a first-round bye and were set to compete against Scotland's Alexander Dunn and Adam Pringle in the second round.
However, the Scottish team withdrew unexpectedly, allowing Satwik and Chirag to advance to the round of 16 without stepping onto the court.
In addition, the mixed doubles team of Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila also progressed to the pre-quarterfinals after a convincing victory over Macau's Leong Iok Chong and Ng Weng Chi, winning 21-11, 21-11.
Other notable Indian players in action on Wednesday included two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, Ayush Shetty, and Lakshya Sen.
