Indian Boxer Hitesh Gulia Honored by Navy Chief for World Cup Triumphs

New Delhi, November 29: Indian welterweight boxer Hitesh Gulia, along with his coach Suranjoy Singh, received accolades from Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of the Indian Navy, in recognition of their remarkable performances at the Boxing World Cups held in Brazil and Kazakhstan, culminating in a gold medal victory at the finals in India.
Hitesh secured the gold medal in the men's 70kg category at the World Boxing Cup Finals in Greater Noida, defeating Kazakhstan's Nurbek Mursal. Earlier this year, in April, he made history by becoming the first Indian to win a World Boxing Cup gold at Stage 1 of the tournament. He followed this achievement with a silver medal at Stage II in Kazakhstan, before clinching gold in the finals.
In a statement, the Indian Navy highlighted that Admiral Tripathi honored Hitesh and his coach for their exceptional performances throughout the 2025 World Boxing Cup series. Hitesh's gold and silver medals from Brazil and Kazakhstan, along with his gold at the finals, were celebrated as significant achievements that underscore his status among the elite in boxing.
According to the Navy's announcement, "Hitesh Gulia, PO LOG, and his coach M Suranjoy Singh MCPO I (PT) were recognized by Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, CNS, for their impressive performances at the World Boxing Cup series 2025. Hitesh's achievements – Gold & Silver at the Boxing World Cups in Brazil and Kazakhstan, followed by Gold at the World Boxing Cup Finals in India (November 2025) – firmly establish him among the world's best, marking a moment of great pride for the Indian Navy."
The CNS expressed his congratulations to Hitesh for his outstanding global accomplishments and praised Coach Suranjoy Singh for his unwavering support and dedication. The Navy emphasized that their success reflects its commitment to promoting sporting excellence and inspiring future athletes within the Navy.
