Harbhajan Singh Celebrates Indian Bowlers
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed his delight over the performance of Indian bowlers in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season, noting that four out of the top five contenders for the Purple Cap are from India. He specifically commended Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings for his innovative bowling style in modern T20 cricket during an episode of 'Champions Waali Commentary' on JioHotstar.
Kamboj's Impressive Stats
Currently, Anshul Kamboj leads the Purple Cap standings with 13 wickets from six matches, boasting an average of 16.23, a best performance of 3/22, and an economy rate of 9.73.
Harbhajan on the Need for Evolution in Bowling
During the show, Harbhajan emphasized the necessity for Indian bowlers to adapt or face consequences, stating that failure to improve could lead to severe punishment in T20 cricket. He highlighted Kamboj's exceptional performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he secured three wickets for just 22 runs in three overs. Notably, he restricted big hitters like Heinrich Klaasen and Liam Livingstone during the crucial death overs, conceding only nine runs in two overs.
Indian Bowlers Leading the Charge
In the ongoing Purple Cap race, four out of the top five bowlers are Indian. The only non-Indian player is Sri Lankan pacer Eshan Malinga, who has taken 12 wickets in seven matches at an average of 18.08. Following him is Prasidh Krishna from Gujarat Titans, also with 12 wickets but at a higher average of 19.83.
