Return of Indian Badminton Players

Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, along with Asian Games doubles champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, are gearing up to compete in the 2026 Singapore Badminton Open, commencing on Tuesday. After opting out of the previous week's Malaysia Masters, both Sindhu and the Sat-Chi duo are set to participate in this BWF Super 750 event at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, where significant ranking points are at stake.

Sindhu's Challenge in Women's Singles

Sindhu will lead a trio of Indian players in the women's singles main draw, which also includes Unnati Hooda and Malvika Bansod. This season, Sindhu has only reached one semi-final, and she faces a tough opening match against Indonesia's world No. 6, Putri Kusuma Wardani, who has a 3-2 advantage in their head-to-head encounters. Notably, Sindhu clinched the Singapore Badminton Open title in 2022 when it was classified as a Super 500 event.

Men's Singles Contenders

After early exits in Malaysia, Lakshya Sen, a semi-finalist at Paris 2024, and HS Prannoy are aiming for a stronger performance in Singapore. Kidambi Srikanth and Ayush Shetty are also making their return to the Indian squad after missing the Malaysia competition.
