India vs England Test Match Faces Rain Disruptions on Final Day

Final Day of the Test Match in Leeds

Currently, the first Test match between India and England is taking place in Leeds. Today, June 24, marks the fifth day of this contest. However, before the day could commence, there is troubling news for both teams as the weather in Leeds is unfavorable, with rain potentially interrupting the match. India is in a strong position in this first match of the five-match Test series. On the final day of the match, England needs to score 350 runs to secure a victory, having been set a target of 371 runs by India.

According to the UK Met Office, rain is expected in Headingley, Leeds, during the morning and afternoon. There is a high likelihood of heavy rainfall between 12 PM and 1 PM. The forecast suggests that sunshine may follow, but light rain could still occur intermittently.

At this moment, the team led by Shubman Gill aims to kick off their new World Test Championship cycle with a win before the second Test, which is scheduled to take place at Edgbaston next week. Meanwhile, the host team, England, is looking to achieve the largest run chase in Test history. Previously, only once has a team successfully chased down 350 runs on the final day of a Test match. This remarkable feat was accomplished 77 years ago by Don Bradman's invincible team during the 1948 Ashes, which also coincidentally took place in Leeds.
