India's Historic Participation in the Youth Delphic Games

New Delhi: The International Pythian Council (IPC) has revealed that a 57-member delegation from India will participate in the inaugural Youth Delphic Games, organized by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Member States.

This significant event is set to occur in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from March 23 to 28, 2026, marking a transformative moment in global cultural diplomacy. For the first time, India will send a structured team of artists, akin to a sports team, to compete internationally under the Modern Pythian Games banner, as stated in an IPC announcement.

Embracing a New Era of Cultural Representation. While Indian artists have traditionally performed worldwide, this initiative signifies a major advancement. Modeled after prestigious sporting events like the Olympics, this carefully selected 57-member team aims to achieve national pride across various artistic categories.

This participation stems from a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the International Pythian Council and the International Delphic Committee, heralding a new chapter of collaboration in the global creative sector.

In recognition of this achievement, the International Delphic Committee (Russia) and the Mayor of Bishkek have invited Bijender Goel, the Founder of the Modern Pythian Games, to be a Special Guest at both the opening and closing ceremonies.

“This is a landmark moment for Indian cultural diplomacy. For the first time, a unified team of 57 artists will represent India in a well-organized international arts competition. We are honoring our artists with the same respect typically afforded to athletes,” remarked Santanu Agrahari, IAS, President of the Pythian Council of India.

The Delegation and Its Artistic Categories: The diverse team will highlight India's rich cultural heritage and contemporary creativity across various competitive and festival categories, including Piano, Folk Singing, Pop Singing, Fine Arts, Folk Dance, DJ competitions, Folk Instruments, and Arts and Crafts.

Diplomatic Importance: Enhancing Relations with the SCO. The invitation from the Mayor's Office of Bishkek and the Kyrgyz Republic Government emphasizes the increasing diplomatic significance of the Modern Pythian Games.

Strategic Impacts: Cultural Soft Power: Establishing India as a leader in the creative industries. Central Asian Relations: Fortifying the strategic connection between India and Central Asia within the SCO framework. Youth Empowerment: Offering young Indian creators a global stage to professionalize their skills and engage in cross-cultural exchanges.

The First Youth Delphic Games of SCO Member States aims to encourage intercultural dialogue, safeguard national traditions, and support the professional development of young cultural workers. The competitions will be accessible to the public, providing Indian artists with unparalleled exposure to international audiences and critics.

The International Pythian Council expresses its appreciation to the Government of Kyrgyzstan and the International Delphic Committee for this invitation, reaffirming a mutual commitment to peace, friendship, and collaboration through the arts.
