Outstanding Performance by Pramod Bhagat


Toledo: At the Spanish Para Badminton International 2026 – Level 1, India showcased remarkable talent, with Pramod Bhagat standing out as a key performer.


The Paralympic champion secured one gold and two silver medals, leading India's impressive display on the global stage.


Bhagat's gold medal came in the Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5 category, where he teamed up with Manisha Ramdass.


The Indian pair exhibited great teamwork and determination, defeating fellow Indians Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan in straight sets.


They comfortably won the first set 21-15 and narrowly clinched the second set 24-22, finishing the match in just 30 minutes.


In the Men’s Singles SL3 final, Bhagat fought hard but ultimately earned a silver medal after losing to compatriot Nitesh Kumar, with scores of 10-21, 17-21.


He also secured another silver in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SU5 event alongside Sukant Kadam.


The duo faced a tough challenge against Naveen Sivakumar and Surya Kant Yadav, losing the first set 16-21 but bouncing back to win the second 21-12, before falling short in the final set 15-21.


India's overall performance in Toledo was impressive, with multiple podium finishes across various categories. Nitesh Kumar claimed gold in Men’s Singles SL3, while Manasi Joshi and Thulasimathi Murugesan took gold in Women’s Doubles SL3-SU5.


Thulasimathi also won gold in Women’s Singles SU5, with Manisha Ramdass earning silver in the same event.


Numerous other Indian players contributed to the medal tally, highlighting the strength and depth of India's para badminton team.
