India's Medal Tally at the Championships

In Dammam, Saudi Arabia, the Asian U18 Athletics Championships 2025 concluded with Team India securing a total of 11 medals, comprising one gold, five silver, and five bronze. The event wrapped up on Friday, as reported by a leading sports outlet.

Himanshu emerged as the star of the day, clinching India's only gold medal in the boys' javelin throw event on the final day of the competition. His impressive throw of 67.57 meters was enough to secure victory, surpassing China's Lu Hao, who managed 63.45 meters, and Uzbekistan's Ruslan Sadullaev, who threw 61.96 meters.

This achievement marks India's inaugural gold medal in the boys' javelin throw at the Asian U18 Athletics Championships.

On April 16, during the second day of the event, Nitin Gupta earned the first medal for India by finishing second in the boys' 5000m race walk, clocking in at 20:21.51 seconds, just behind China's Zhu Ninghao, who finished 0.01 seconds faster.

Despite leading in the final stretch, Nitin's early celebration almost cost him the gold, but he later clarified that it was not a factor.

In the girls' category, Tannu made history as the first Indian athlete to medal in Dammam, securing silver in the 400m with a time of 57.63 seconds, finishing behind Japan's Imamine Saki, who clocked 57.27 seconds. Edwina Jason from India placed fifth with a time of 58.46 seconds.

Nischay also shone brightly, winning two medals: a silver in boys' shot put with a personal best of 19.59 meters and a bronze in discus throw with a distance of 58.85 meters.

Aarti showcased her talent by winning bronze in both the girls' 100m and 200m sprints, achieving personal bests of 11.93 seconds and 24.31 seconds, respectively.

In the boys' high jump, Devak Bhushan secured silver with a leap of 2.03 meters, narrowly missing gold to Kuwait's Mohammad Alduaij.

The boys' medley relay team, consisting of Chiranth P, Sayed Sabeer, Saket Minj, and Kadir Khan, set a new youth national record with a time of 1:52.15, breaking the previous record of 1:52.96.

Unfortunately, Aarti, Prisha Mishra, Edwina Jason, and Tannu did not finish in the girls' relay race.

Anchal Sajesh Patil narrowly missed the podium in the girls' high jump, clearing 1.65 meters but finishing behind bronze medallist Yasmeen Roy of Kuwait due to a second-attempt clearance.

In the previous Asian U18 Athletics Championships held in Tashkent in 2023, India had an impressive haul of 24 medals, including six golds, 11 silvers, and seven bronzes, with Rezoana Mallick Heena leading the charge by winning three medals.
