India Secures Hosting Rights for World Indoor Athletics Championships

New Delhi: The World Indoor Athletics Championships will take place in India, specifically in Bhubaneswar, after the international governing body granted the hosting rights during its council meeting held in Torun, Poland, on Thursday.

This significant decision was made just a day prior to the commencement of the 2025 World Indoor Athletics Championships in Poland.

World Athletics vice president Adille Sumariwalla confirmed to a news agency that India has been selected to host the World Indoor Athletics Championships in 2028.

Earlier this year, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) had announced its intention to bid for the championships.

In January, a two-member delegation from World Athletics inspected the modern indoor facility located at the Kalinga Stadium Complex in Bhubaneswar.
