India Set for Exciting White-Ball Series in England
Overview of the Upcoming Series
After a lengthy hiatus of four years, India is gearing up to visit England for a comprehensive white-ball series. The last time the Men in Blue played a white-ball series in England was in 2022, which also featured a single Test match. Following a defeat in the Test, India managed to clinch the five-match T20I series with a score of 3-2 and also secured the ODI series 2-1. Since then, significant changes have occurred in the team dynamics. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are now exclusively participating in ODIs, with Shubman Gill taking over as the ODI captain. Shreyas Iyer will lead the T20I squad, while Suryakumar Yadav has been excluded from the T20I lineup. Notably, Rishabh Pant has lost his place in both white-ball formats.
A highlight of this tour is the inclusion of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who will be embarking on his first journey to England with the national team and is expected to earn his maiden cap against Ireland prior to the England series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled both squads for the upcoming matches. The T20I team, under Iyer's captaincy, features players like Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Prince Yadav, and Harshit Rana, among others. Tilak Varma will serve as the vice-captain for the T20I series.
Meanwhile, the ODI squad, led by Gill, includes prominent players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer. Kohli will need to demonstrate his fitness before rejoining the ODI team.
