India Secures Dramatic Draw Against England in Fourth Test

On July 27, India achieved a remarkable draw against England in the fourth Test held in Manchester, keeping the five-match series competitive with a chance for a 2-2 finish.

The Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, batted for over five sessions in their second innings, concluding at 425/4 when both teams agreed to a draw. India had established a 113-run lead before the handshake.

Facing a daunting total of 669 runs set by England in response to India's first innings score of 358, India found themselves in a precarious position. With England holding a 311-run advantage, a special performance was essential to avoid defeat, and they delivered.

Despite losing two wickets in the first over, India managed to lose only two more wickets over the next 142.1 overs. Captain Shubman Gill scored 103 runs off 238 balls, forming a crucial 188-run partnership with KL Rahul, who contributed 90 runs. After both Gill and Rahul were dismissed in the first session of the final day, India faced renewed pressure.

However, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar stepped up, both scoring unbeaten centuries to secure the draw. Jadeja finished with 107 not out, while Sundar remained unbeaten on 101.
