India Reveals ODI Squad for Upcoming England Series
India's ODI Squad for England Series Announced
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, commencing on July 16. Notably, Virat Kohli has made his return to the ODI setup, while senior all-rounder Hardik Pandya is absent from the lineup.
The Men's Selection Committee has appointed Shubman Gill as the captain, with Shreyas Iyer serving as vice-captain. The squad also includes prominent players such as Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Kuldeep Yadav, along with returning stars Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah.
Kohli's Return Subject to Fitness
Kohli's comeback follows his absence from the home ODI series against Afghanistan, where he was rested due to a right hamstring injury sustained during the IPL 2026 final. His participation in the ODI series against England will depend on his fitness clearance.
Pandya's Omission and Youngsters' Inclusion
The exclusion of Pandya has sparked considerable discussion, although the BCCI has not disclosed specific reasons for his absence. Meanwhile, fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has retained his spot after showcasing impressive performances in recent home matches, and young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy continues to gain the selectors' confidence.
Changes to T20I Squad for Ireland
In another update, the BCCI has added pacer Prasidh Krishna to India's T20I squad for the two-match series against Ireland, replacing mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy. Chakaravarthy is currently recovering from a left foot injury sustained during IPL 2026 and is in the final stages of rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence (COE), awaiting clearance for competitive play.
India's Upcoming Schedule
India's next challenge is the two-match T20I series against Ireland, scheduled for June 26 and 28 in Belfast. Following this, the team will engage in a five-match T20I series against England before transitioning to the ODI segment of the tour.
The ODI series against England will kick off at Edgbaston, with the second match taking place in Cardiff on July 16, and the final match set for July 19 at Lord's.
