India is gearing up to commence their 2025-27 World Test Championship Cycle with a match against England in their home grounds. The challenging weather and the pitch conditions may pose difficulties, but Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel emphasizes that maintaining consistency is vital. Acknowledging his own nerves as a coach ahead of the series, Morkel believes that adhering to established principles both on and off the field will yield positive outcomes in England. "Overall, I am pleased with our progress so far. I felt a bit anxious due to the limited red ball practice, but observing the players' movements and training over the past three days has been encouraging. We have an excellent group with great energy, which is essential. Confidence and team spirit are crucial as we head into a Test series."

He further elaborated,

"In England, consistency is key, and we are seeing that in our practice sessions; it extends to off-field activities as well, helping each individual find their effective process."

Morkel Advocates for Bowling Diversity

India is set to conduct a two-day intrasquad match featuring the senior team and the India-A team, providing an excellent chance for the management to finalize their ideal lineup. Morkel expressed confidence in the diversity of their bowling attack, stating,

"Our bowling unit boasts great variety, with players possessing different skill sets who can execute the fundamentals effectively. The conditions during our two-day practice have favored the fast bowlers, presenting challenges for the batters, which is beneficial for their preparation for upcoming matches."

Morkel also mentioned,

"There has been lively banter between bat and ball, primarily due to the slightly challenging wickets. However, when the wickets become flat, bowlers tend to ease off. I will encourage them to maintain their intensity and communication, even when conditions are less favorable, as that is when character truly matters."
