Upcoming Test Match at Lord's

After securing a win at Edgbaston, Team India is set to face its next challenge at Lord's starting July 10. Following a significant defeat by 336 runs in the second Test, the England team has become more cautious regarding pitch conditions. Consequently, they have decided to move away from flat pitches and are now requesting a surface that offers pace and bounce at Lord's.

England's Strategy Shift

Benny Stokes and Brendan McCullum believe that the pitch used at Edgbaston resembled those found in the subcontinent. Stokes' decision to bowl first at the toss turned out to be advantageous for India. The English team aims to capitalize on home advantage more effectively in the upcoming third Test starting Thursday, which will likely see changes in their fast bowling lineup.

Pitch Expectations and Historical Context

It is noteworthy that during last month's World Test Championship final at Lord's, fast bowlers dominated the game, with Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada benefiting from significant seam movement. McCullum has expressed a desire for a similar pitch and has requested the MCC's head groundsman, Karl McDermott, to prepare a surface with more speed and bounce. He stated, 'This will be a blockbuster, but if the pitch has life, I believe it will be an exciting contest.'

India's Past Experiences at Lord's

In 2018, India faced challenges on a green pitch at this venue, but they managed to secure a Test victory there four years ago. Jasprit Bumrah is expected to return to the pace attack after being rested in Birmingham. India is anticipating a different type of pitch this time. Captain Shubman Gill remarked, 'Let's see what kind of wicket they provide us at Lord's. I suspect it won't be flat.'
