India-England Test Series Renamed to Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
Introduction of the New Trophy
The highly anticipated Test series between India and England has been officially launched. Cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar from India and James Anderson from England unveiled the trophy, which will now be known as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, replacing the previous name, the Pataudi Trophy. Notably, this change was initiated by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) rather than the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Details of the Trophy
From now on, the Test series contested between India and England will be referred to as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the captain who wins this trophy will receive the Pataudi Medal, honoring the legacy of the Pataudi family.
Significance of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy
The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy represents a collaborative effort between the ECB and BCCI, symbolizing all future Test series between England and India. Previously, the Test series in England was known as the Pataudi Trophy, while in India, it was referred to as the Anthony de Mello Trophy. However, moving forward, both nations will recognize the series under the new name.
