India Dominates ICC Men's T20I Rankings After World Cup Victory
India Retains Top Position in T20I Rankings
Following their recent success at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian cricket team has successfully maintained its leading position in the latest ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings, showcasing their dominance in this format.
Current Rankings Overview
As per the ICC, the Indian team, captained by Suryakumar Yadav, holds the top rank with 275 rating points. Although their lead has slightly diminished, they still have a significant edge over England, who is in second place with 262 points. Australia follows closely in third with 258 points.
Ranking Calculation Methodology
The latest rankings take into account all matches played since May 2025 at full value, while results from the previous two years are weighted at 50%. India's top position is well-deserved, given their impressive performance, including consecutive T20 World Cup victories in 2024 and 2026, and an unbeaten record in bilateral T20I series during this timeframe.
Top 10 Rankings Stability
The top seven teams remain unchanged, with New Zealand at 247 points, South Africa at 244, Pakistan at 240, and the West Indies at 233 points.
Bangladesh and Emerging Teams
Bangladesh has moved up to eighth place with 225 points, surpassing Sri Lanka, which has dropped to ninth after losing six points. Afghanistan is close behind in tenth with 220 points.
Among the emerging teams, the United States has made significant progress, climbing two spots to 13th with a six-point increase, overtaking both the Netherlands and Scotland. Italy has also made headlines by rising three places to 23rd, following a remarkable 10-wicket win over Nepal in their T20 World Cup debut.
Changes at the Bottom of the Rankings
At the lower end of the rankings, Nepal and Oman have each moved up a position, while the United Arab Emirates and Canada have slipped down.
The rankings now include 98 teams, reduced from 102, as Fiji, Gambia, Greece, and Israel were removed for failing to meet the minimum requirement of eight T20I matches in the last three years.
