India Dominates Day One at Pickleball World Cup 2026 in Vietnam

Unbeaten Start for India

The Indian team has concluded the first day of the Team Event at the Pickleball World Cup in Da Nang, Vietnam, with an impressive unbeaten record. The league stage wrapped up with India triumphing over Antigua and Barbuda, Israel, and the Czech Republic.

Strong Performance by the Pro Squad

The Indian pro squad, featuring players such as Harsh Mehta, Arjun Singh, Anish Froilan, Aman Patel, Pearl Amalsadiwala, Naomi Amalsadiwala, Aaliya Ebrahim, and Mihika Yadav, showcased their skills by defeating both Antigua & Barbuda and Israel with a score of 6-0. In their final league match against the Czech Republic, India secured a comfortable victory with a score of 5-1. Each tie consisted of six matches: Women's Doubles, Men's Doubles, Mixed Doubles 1, Mixed Doubles 2, Women's Singles, and Men's Singles. They are set to compete against Portugal in the round of 32 on Friday.

High Team Morale

Captain Harsh Mehta expressed confidence, stating, "The team morale is very high; we have started the tournament with positive energy and great results. Team members are all playing well, which is most important and hence the result. We are preparing mentally for eliminations tomorrow."

Pride in Representation

Aalap Sharma, Treasurer of the Indian Pickleball Association, shared his excitement about the opening ceremony, saying, "It was an exhilarating feeling during the parade, walking as part of the Indian delegation. Competing internationally brings natural pre-match nerves, but true champions rise above anxiety and deliver when it matters most. We are proud of our athletes who embody resilience, passion, and determination, achieving victories that make the nation proud. Senior Squad's Success

The Senior squad also had a strong showing on day one, defeating Germany and Nepal with a score of 4-0 each. Led by Suryaveer Singh, who is also the President of the Indian Pickleball Association, they secured their place in the round of 32. Singh expressed pride in the team's performance, stating, "I am extremely proud of all the individual performances and the spirit that the contingent has brought into the team event. We are currently in 4th place, and if this momentum continues, we can achieve great things."
