India Clinches Two Bronze Medals at Asia Cup Stage I Archery Tournament

On March 26, India achieved notable success at the Asia Cup Stage I archery tournament held in Bangkok, securing bronze medals in both the women's recurve and men's compound team events.
As reported by Olympics.com, the women's recurve team, consisting of Ruma Biswas, Kirti, and Ridhi, showcased an impressive performance, defeating Malaysia 5-1 in the bronze medal match at the SAT Football Stadium. They had previously secured third place in the qualification round with a total score of 1915, spearheaded by Ruma's score of 650.
The women's team began their tournament with a 6-2 victory over Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals but faced a setback against China, losing 5-1 in the semi-finals before bouncing back to clinch the bronze.
In the men's compound event, the trio of Rajat Chauhan, Uday Kamboj, and Rishabh Yadav narrowly defeated Bhutan 234-232 in a tense bronze medal match. Earlier, they had triumphed over Chinese Taipei with a score of 238-228 in the quarter-finals but were edged out by Vietnam 234-233 in the semi-finals.
India excelled in the men's compound qualification, finishing first with a score of 2126, led by Rajat Chauhan's 712, followed closely by Rishabh Yadav (708) and Uday Kamboj (706).
Looking ahead, India's medal prospects remain promising as they prepare for the final days of the competition. The women's compound and men's recurve teams are set to compete for gold against Kazakhstan on Friday.
The mixed team events are scheduled for Thursday, with individual finals concluding on Friday. Tejal Rajendra Salve will vie for bronze in the women's compound, while Prathamesh Jawkar and Uday Kamboj will compete in an all-India men's compound final. Rajat Chauhan also has the opportunity to enhance India's medal tally in his bronze match.
Ridhi Phor will participate in the women's recurve bronze medal match, although India will not have representation in the men's recurve individual medal rounds.
The Indian contingent at this continental event comprised 16 archers, evenly split between men and women, competing in both recurve and compound categories.
