Historic Win for India at the Women's World Cup
In a thrilling final held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, India triumphed over South Africa by 52 runs, securing their first-ever Women's World Cup title.
Batting first, the Indian team posted a total of 298 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 50 overs, with Shafali Verma contributing a remarkable 87 runs and Deepti Sharma adding 58. In response, South Africa was bowled out for 246 runs. With this victory, India becomes the fourth nation to win the Women's World Cup, joining the ranks of Australia, England, and New Zealand.
Regarding the prize money, the total pool for this Women's World Cup was set at $13.88 million, approximately ₹123 crores. This amount is nearly four times greater than the prize pool from the previous Women's World Cup in 2022 and even surpasses the prize money for the 2023 Men's ODI World Cup.
As champions, the Indian team will receive $4.48 million, roughly ₹40 crores. Meanwhile, the runners-up, South Africa, will take home about ₹20 crores, and both Australia and England, who reached the semifinals, will each receive ₹10 crores.
