Cabinet Approves Bid for Commonwealth Games 2030
On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet sanctioned the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports' proposal to submit a bid for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2030, which is set to take place in Ahmedabad. The Cabinet also authorized the signing of a Host Collaboration Agreement (HCA) and the necessary guarantees from relevant ministries, departments, and authorities, along with the approval of grant-in-aid for the Gujarat Government, contingent upon the bid's acceptance.
The Commonwealth Games will see participation from athletes representing 72 nations. The event is expected to attract a significant number of athletes, coaches, technical officials, tourists, and media personnel, which will provide a boost to local businesses and stimulate revenue generation.
Previously, New Delhi hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
