This squad includes 10 male and 9 female boxers, all selected from the ongoing elite national training camp at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports in Patiala, as the season gears up for significant competitions.

In line with its selection guidelines, the BFI has included silver medalists from the 2025 Elite Men’s and Women’s National Championships. The Thailand Open, organized under the auspices of Asian Boxing, will feature top teams from across Asia, including strong contenders like China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Japan, Korea, and the host nation, Thailand.

The men's team consists of Naothoi Singh Kongkham (47-50kg), Pawan Bartwal (50-55kg), Nikhil (55-60kg), Amit Kumar (60-65kg), Hemant Yadav (65-70kg), Deepak (70-75kg), Dhruv Singh (75-80kg), Jugnoo (80-85kg), Naman Tanwar (85-90kg), and Anshul Gill (90kg-plus).

For the women's team, the boxers include Yasika Rai (45-48kg), Tamanna (48-51kg), Abha Singh (51-54kg), Priya (54-57kg), Sanju (57-60kg), Saneh (65-70kg), Anjali (70-75kg), Lalfakmawii Ralte (75-80kg), and Kiran (80kg+). Notably, there is no representation in the women’s 60-65kg category for this tournament.

Ajay Singh, the BFI President-Chairman of the Interim Committee, expressed enthusiasm about the team’s preparation, stating, “As we prepare for the Thailand Open, we are entering an exciting phase for Indian boxing. This is just the start of a busy international schedule, which includes the World Cup in Kazakhstan, the World Championship in Liverpool, the World Cup Finals in New Delhi, and several key tournaments like the Asian Championship later this year.”

He emphasized the importance of performance and transparency in the selection process, noting that every boxer has earned their spot through dedication and consistency. The national camp is currently in progress, and with the talent and structure in place, he believes India is poised to make a significant impact on the global stage in the coming months.

The Patiala camp initially gathered 60 male and 60 female boxers, chosen from top performers at the 2025 Nationals and medalists from the 2024 REC Combined National Talent Hunt in Rohtak and the Chief of Army Staff Cup in Pune. After internal evaluations, the group was narrowed down to 40 in each category. This refined team will continue training through June, with additional athletes joining from an upcoming Elite Women’s Competition in July.

The Thailand Open is a crucial event in India’s boxing calendar, offering elite boxers a chance to compete against the best in Asia, as they build momentum towards the World Boxing Cup later this year.
