The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Shubman Gill will lead the team, with prominent players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also included. Notably, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been excluded from the squad due to workload management, and Shreyas Iyer's selection hinges on his fitness assessment. This series will feature a multi-format white-ball contest between India and New Zealand, comprising three ODIs and five T20 matches.

Key Players and Fitness Concerns

Interestingly, the BCCI had previously announced the T20 squad, and now the ODI team has been revealed. Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the vice-captain for the ODI series, but his participation will depend on the results of his fitness test. Iyer has been sidelined since sustaining an injury during the ODI series against Australia. Additionally, star players such as KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, and Rishabh Pant have made it to the squad.

Absence of Key All-Rounder

One notable absence from the team is all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The star player has not been selected for the ODI series as the BCCI's medical team has not yet cleared him to bowl ten overs in a match. With the T20 World Cup approaching, the board is keen on ensuring he is fully fit for this significant tournament.
