India and England Gear Up for Thrilling Third Test at Lord's
Exciting Clash in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Series
London [UK], July 10: The highly anticipated third Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series between India and England is set to commence today at Lord's, known as the Home of Cricket.
Following a remarkable 336-run victory at Edgbaston, India enters this match with renewed vigor, having leveled the series at 1-1.
This match will also highlight a thrilling face-off between two pace-bowling giants: Jasprit Bumrah from India and England's Jofra Archer, who is making his Test comeback after a four-year hiatus.
India has shown strong performance at Lord's in recent years, winning two out of their last three matches during tours in 2014, 2018, and 2021.
In the previous match, India showcased an impressive display of batting and bowling, even in Bumrah's absence, with captain Shubman Gill scoring 269 and 161 runs, while Mohammed Siraj took six wickets and Akash Deep achieved a ten-wicket haul in Birmingham.
For this Test, Archer has been included in England's playing XI, replacing Josh Tongue, marking a significant change from the last match. Bumrah is expected to take Prasidh Krishna's spot in the Indian lineup.
Returning to the Test arena for the first time since February 2021, Archer's speed is anticipated to enhance England's relatively young bowling attack, which has struggled at times during the series.
Bumrah, a key player in India's bowling lineup, recorded his 14th five-wicket haul in the first Test against England. Since 2024, he has claimed 78 wickets at an impressive average of 15.07, including six five-wicket hauls.
Shubman Gill leads the run charts in this series, amassing 585 runs across two Tests with an average of 146.25 and a strike rate exceeding 73, including three centuries and a standout score of 269 at Edgbaston.
On the English side, Josh Tongue has emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the series, securing 11 wickets in four innings at an average of 33.63.
Joe Root is on the verge of a milestone, needing just 45 runs to become the first player to score 3000 runs against India in Test matches. Meanwhile, Gill requires only 18 more runs to surpass Rahul Dravid's record of 602 runs, the highest by an Indian in England.
Historically, India and England have clashed 19 times at Lord's, with England winning 12 encounters and India claiming victory in just three.
