India and Australia Dominate Latest ICC Cricket Rankings

ICC Announces Updated Annual Team Rankings
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled its latest annual team rankings, with India and Australia maintaining their top positions across all formats of the game.
Australia holds the title of the No.1 Test team with a rating of 126, although England has made significant strides, narrowing the gap following impressive recent performances.
With a rating of 113, England now ranks second after securing victories in three out of their last four Test series. South Africa follows closely with a rating of 111, while India stands at 105, intensifying the competition in Test cricket.
In a noteworthy upcoming event, Australia and South Africa are set to clash in the World Test Championship final on June 11, 2025. Meanwhile, India and England will resume Test cricket on June 20, with India touring England for a five-match Test series.
In One Day Internationals (ODIs), India continues to assert its dominance at the top of the rankings. Following their triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India's rating increased from 122 to 124. New Zealand also improved their standing after finishing as runners-up in the tournament, pushing Australia down to third place. Sri Lanka's ascent to No.4 was fueled by victories over both India and Australia.
Sri Lanka managed to defeat India in a three-match ODI series in 2024 and achieved a 2-0 whitewash against Australia in February.
India Retains Top Spot in T20I Rankings
India has successfully held onto the No.1 position in T20Is after their recent victory in the T20 World Cup. However, the competition has tightened, with Australia trailing by just nine points. The T20 format is becoming increasingly competitive, now featuring 100 teams in the rankings for the first time.
“This annual update uses all matches completed since May 2022,” the ICC stated, “with those played after May 2024 weighted at 100%, and the previous year’s matches at 50%.”
Following their tour of England, India will head to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and a T20I series in August. Shortly after, India will host the West Indies for a two-match Test series in early October. In the last week of October, India will tour Australia for a five-match T20I series, and in November, South Africa will visit India for a Test and T20I series.
