India's Medal Quest at CWG 2026


The Indian team is eager to enhance its medal count as the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 enters its third day. Currently, India has clinched two medals, with Jhandu Kumar earning a bronze in para powerlifting and Lovlina Borgohai also securing at least a bronze by reaching the semi-finals. On Day 3, Indian athletes are set to compete in various events including lawn bowls, boxing, swimming, artistic gymnastics, and 3x3 wheelchair basketball.


In swimming, Dhakshan Shashikumar and Aryan Nehra will participate in the men's 400m freestyle heats, aiming for a spot in the finals scheduled for late Saturday night. Boxing remains a strong area for India, with Sachin preparing to face Canada's Keoma Al-Ahmadieh in the men's 60kg Round of 32, hoping to uphold the tradition of success in this sport.


The Indian women's 3x3 wheelchair basketball team, featuring Minakshi, Reena, Laxmi, and Ritu, will compete against Wales in a Pool B group-stage match. Additionally, the women's artistic gymnastics team, including Pranati Nayak, Nishka Agarwal, Protishta Samanta, and Eshitaa Rewale, will participate in the finals.
