Key Announcements for Women's Cricket Events

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed significant details regarding the locations and schedules for two major women's cricket tournaments set to take place in India and England over the next nine months. The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 dates and venues have been finalized, alongside the match schedules for both the Women’s Cricket World Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Venue Contingencies for Knockout Stages

The knockout venues hinge on Pakistan's qualification, with two alternative locations earmarked for one semifinal and the final. The championship match is slated for November 2, either in Bengaluru or Colombo, while the first semifinal is scheduled for October 29 in either Guwahati or Colombo, and the second semifinal will take place in Bengaluru on October 30. Should Pakistan qualify, Colombo will host both the first semifinal and the final.

Excitement for Upcoming Tournaments

ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed enthusiasm about the forthcoming tournaments, stating, “We are thrilled to announce key details regarding two global women’s events hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the England and Wales Cricket Board.” He emphasized the growing support for women's cricket and expressed confidence that these tournaments will elevate the sport's profile even further.

Neutral Venue Considerations for Champions Trophy

India emerged victorious in the 2025 Champions Trophy held in Pakistan, but concerns over security led Indian officials to hesitate in sending their players to Pakistan. After extensive discussions, a hybrid model was established, allowing India's matches to be played in the UAE, while other teams would compete in Pakistan and travel to the UAE for their matches against India.
