UP Warriorz's Remarkable Comeback Against RCB

Navi Mumbai: In a gripping encounter during the Women’s Premier League, UP Warriorz showcased a stunning recovery led by experienced all-rounders Deandra Dottin and Deepti Sharma, finishing with a score of 143 for 5 against the former champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, after a shaky start.

After being put to bat first, UP Warriorz found themselves at 36 for 1 during the powerplay but quickly faltered, losing four wickets in just eight deliveries, plunging to 50 for 5 by the ninth over.

However, Dottin and Deepti formed a crucial partnership, remaining unbeaten with a remarkable 93-run collaboration off 72 balls, effectively rescuing their innings.

Deepti Sharma ended her innings with a commendable 45 runs off 35 balls, including five boundaries and a six, while Dottin contributed 40 runs from 37 balls, hitting three fours and one six.

The duo accelerated in the final overs, amassing 67 runs in the last six overs, with Dottin targeting off-spinner Shreyanka Patil for a boundary and a six in the 15th over, while Deepti struck a straight six off Nadine de Klerk in the penultimate over.

In the last over, Deepti hammered Shreyanka for two fours, and Dottin added another boundary, resulting in 15 runs from that over, pushing UP Warriorz to a respectable total.

Initially, UP Warriorz adopted a cautious approach. Lauren Bell bowled effectively with the new ball, dismissing Harleen Deol for 11 runs off 14 balls, maintaining a run rate below six.

Shreyanka was brought in during the final over of the powerplay and nearly made an immediate impact by dismissing Meg Lanning, but replays indicated that Arundhati Reddy had dropped the catch.

Phoebe Litchfield attempted to shift the momentum by hitting consecutive boundaries off Shreyanka and later executed a remarkable switch-hit six over deep cover.

However, Shreyanka (2/50) had the last laugh, taking out both Lanning (14) and Litchfield (20) in the same over, turning the match in RCB's favor.

Litchfield, who had quickly scored 20 runs off nine balls with two fours and a six, mistimed a delivery and was caught by RCB captain Smriti Mandhana at mid-on.

South African bowler Nadine de Klerk (2/28) then dismantled the middle order, claiming Kiran Navgire (5) with her first delivery and Shweta Sehrawat (0) shortly after.

Dottin and Deepti then displayed a blend of maturity and controlled aggression, capitalizing on loose deliveries and steadily rebuilding their innings before unleashing a flurry of runs at the end.
