India's defense was exceptional, successfully repelling numerous attacks from the Chinese team, including a crucial penalty stroke save by experienced goalkeeper Savita Punia.

This win ends a long 44-year drought for the Indian women's hockey team, who previously claimed gold in 1982, the year women's hockey was introduced at the Asian Games.
