On May 31, Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made history by clinching the 2026 Singapore Open title, defeating Indonesia's Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in a thrilling three-set match. This victory at the Singapore Indoor Stadium marks a significant milestone as they become the first Indian duo to win the men's doubles title in this tournament's history.
The Indonesian team initially took the lead, winning the first set 21-18. However, the Indian pair responded strongly, leveling the match by taking the second set 21-15. In the deciding set, Satwik and Chirag surged ahead with an 11-5 lead, which they extended to 12-5. They maintained their composure and ultimately secured the match with a score of 21-16.
This triumph follows their recent performance at the Thailand Open, where they finished as runners-up after losing to another Indonesian pair, Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthiny, in straight sets (21-12, 25-23).
