KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal Make History in Leeds Test
In the first Test match between India and England at Headingley, Leeds, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal have etched their names in history. The duo formed a remarkable opening partnership, scoring 91 runs together, marking the largest opening stand for India in a Test match in England.
This partnership has surpassed a 39-year-old record previously held by Sunil Gavaskar and K. Srikanth, who set a 64-run opening partnership against England in 1986. Now, Rahul and Jaiswal have become the record-holders for the highest opening partnership for India at Headingley.
Despite a strong performance, KL Rahul narrowly missed out on a half-century, scoring 42 runs off 78 balls with the help of eight boundaries before being caught by Brydon Carse in the slips. This partnership also ranks as the fourth-largest opening stand for India in their first Test on foreign soil.
