Harshit Rana's Journey Through Early Struggles

Indian fast bowler Harshit Rana recently shared insights into how he dealt with setbacks during the initial stages of his career. Since making his debut for India in 2024, he has faced criticism for his performances at times. However, he has proven his worth as a reliable bowler in the white-ball format, earning the trust of Indian coach Gautam Gambhir. In his 13 One Day Internationals, he has taken 23 wickets at an average of 27.3, along with seven wickets in six T20 internationals. Harshit has shown resilience against trolling and played a crucial role in India's victories at the Champions Trophy and Asia Cup last year.

In an interview, Harshit revealed that coping with failures was particularly challenging for him in his early years, often leading him to cry in front of his father. He expressed gratitude for his father's unwavering encouragement, stating, "Now I know how to handle failure. I've experienced a decade where nothing seemed to happen. I would return home and cry every day. But now, I feel the fear of failure has vanished; I can face whatever comes my way." He also discussed his experiences training alongside stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Harshit mentioned that the Indian star duo constantly challenges him during net practice, pushing him to perform at his best. He noted, "Even though I can bowl easily in front of them, the competitive atmosphere during net sessions motivates me to try new things and improve my bowling skills." His recent performances in the ongoing series against New Zealand have been impressive, showcasing his all-round abilities that contributed to a match victory in Baroda. Harshit is set to be part of India's squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, which begins in February.
