A Unique Fitness Experience in Bengaluru

In a remarkable event, Indian cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur took a break from her usual routine to engage in a thrilling fitness challenge, while two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu stepped off the badminton court to participate in a popular fitness event in Bengaluru. The sports brands PUMA and HYROX introduced their innovative race format to the city for the first time.

Introduction of PUMA and HYROX in Bengaluru

HYROX is a global fitness competition that features a unique format combining functional workouts with endurance running, consisting of eight 1 km runs paired with workout stations. This event caters to athletes of all levels, from elite competitors to casual gym enthusiasts.

Athletes Share Their Experiences

PV Sindhu, who serves as a PUMA ambassador alongside Kaur, participated in a mixed relay format that involved completing eight 1 km runs and tackling eight functional workout stations, such as the sledge push and rowing. This fitness race required immense endurance, energy, and strength, with Harmanpreet cheering her on throughout the challenge.

Sindhu expressed her thoughts, stating, "Badminton has always been my domain, but HYROX presents a completely different challenge. There are no opponents, just you against the clock and eight stations that test your limits. I found it both challenging and appealing. Harmanpreet's support added an energy that motivated me to push harder. As athletes, we constantly seek ways to improve our performance."

Harmanpreet, the recently crowned World Cup-winning captain, remarked, "Leading a team on the cricket field is one thing, but witnessing Sindhu tackle this challenge was a unique experience. Our sports backgrounds and training regimens differ significantly, and watching her compete at such a high level was truly inspiring. HYROX challenges you in ways that your own sport may not prepare you for."

Growing Popularity of Fitness Races in India

The Bengaluru edition of the fitness race saw an impressive turnout, with over 8,200 participants across various categories, highlighting the increasing interest in HYROX as a competitive format.

HYROX made its debut in India in 2025, with events held in Mumbai and Delhi, attracting more than 7,000 participants. The success of the Bengaluru event continues to build on this momentum, expanding the reach of the sport and engaging a growing community of fitness enthusiasts.
