Hardik Pandya's Recovery Journey

On June 9, Team India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya, along with his partner Mahieka Sharma, found themselves in a challenging situation during a hospital visit in Yelahanka, Bengaluru. Currently, Hardik is recuperating at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru after the IPL 2026 season.

The 32-year-old cricketer was recently cleared to participate in the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan after completing a week of match simulations and bowling drills at the CoE. However, just as he was preparing to return for the Afghanistan ODIs, he encountered a setback with a new quadriceps strain sustained during his last training session, which has now ruled him out of the series.

Throughout IPL 2026, Hardik dealt with ongoing back spasms that caused him to miss several matches in the tournament's final stages. This latest injury has extended his rehabilitation period at the CoE, where he will continue to receive care from the BCCI medical team.

Crowd Chaos in Bengaluru

While in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation, Hardik visited the hospital to evaluate his quadriceps injury. News of their presence quickly spread, leading to an overwhelming crowd that disrupted local security measures.

A viral video captured the moment Hardik and Mahieka exited the hospital, only to be engulfed by a throng of enthusiastic fans, making it difficult for them to navigate through the chaos. The footage showed the couple struggling to reach their vehicle amidst the crowd's excitement.

Due to the overwhelming number of fans, Hardik and Mahieka had to retreat back into the hospital to escape the surging mob. Eventually, they were able to leave the premises after additional security was arranged to ensure their safe exit.

Lack of Civic Sense Highlighted

The situation escalated further when Hardik and Mahieka visited a showroom in Yelahanka, where the crowd again lost control. They were reportedly manhandled and had to rush back inside for safety. A social media post criticized the lack of civic sense displayed by the crowd, who prioritized taking pictures over the couple's safety.

Despite Hardik's attempts to manage the situation by asking the crowd to disperse, many fans ignored his requests, remaining at the entrance and continuing to film the scene. This disregard for his plea led to a chaotic environment that necessitated security intervention to create a safe passage for the couple.

Future Prospects for Hardik Pandya

Hardik's return to the field hinges on his recovery, as he will need approximately three weeks to heal from the recent quadriceps strain. This setback further postpones his return to international cricket, especially with Team India gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2027, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.

Additionally, Hardik will not participate in the T20I series against Ireland and England, nor in the Asian Games, as selectors aim to manage his workload ahead of crucial ODI matches leading up to the World Cup.
